DivX Inc. San Diego, CA 2000 – 2008

I started with DivX when it was a 5-person startup called Project Mayo.  I’ve worked to successfully build itto a public company with a globally recognized brand with worldwide offices and a staff of over 350.  Here are the roles I’ve played in the last 8 years starting with most recent:
Director Community Marketing

  • Lead the marketing organization to refocus entire strategy toward community focused marketing for all products and services.
  • Collaborated with content creators and community software developers for the worldwide launch of the DivX Connected platform.

Director Marketing, Brand, PR, and Community for Stage6

  • Built a top 50 Alexa web property with over 25 million uniques per month and active community engagement.
  • Ran all marketing and outreach programs with the community and content partners.  This included online and offsite worldwide outreach events and speaking engagements.
  • Worked with community, partners, and engineering to design and build out Stage6 with the correct feature-set and content creators.
  • Built the first video community website to deliver full High Definition video to the PC and living room.

Community & Business Development/Content acquisition

  • Utilized extensive contacts to deliver the right brand appropriate content for Stage6 and content initiatives within DivX.
  • Worked with wide range of content groups from non-profits like Witness and Surfaid to studios like Sony and MTV to independent content creators such as Four Eyed Monsters, and Epic Fu.

Manager Brand Programs

  • Led a team to produce and run highly focused brand programs and worldwide events for internal and
  • external audiences.
  • Work with all levels of employees to connect the work we did with the values of the company to achieve
  • the company goals and build employee pride in the organization.
  • Produced high quality branded videos, web, and print materials for internal and external use.
  • Was the first to direct/product/host a video blog from Sundance and Comic-con in high definition.

Product/Project Manager & Software Design

  • Designed and developed several key products within the DivX product offering such as Dr. DivX, DivX Converter, DivX Author, OVS content delivery system.
  • Designed and developed media frameworks for our hardware/software certification platforms. I hold patents for these developments.
  • Worked with engineering to design and develop the first video on demand system on the internet; the Open Video System (OVS)
  • Worked with the first DivX Codec development team to build the DivX/Open DivX codec and codec community.
  • Worked with engineering and internal groups to develop software and processes and procedures for encoding and  QA groups.


  • Worked with the founders to find and develop the right personnel to build the brand and culture that lead to creating a successful company named by OnHollywood as a Top 100 Private Company.
  • Built out the internal infrastructure for email, file shares, firewall and network infrastructure.

BlueTorch Irvine, CA
Head of Video Streaming 2000

  • Directed Film Crew and technical crew to run the live streaming in multiple bandwidths in multiple
  • formats from surf, snow, skateboard, and motocross events around the world.
  • Built remote networks onsite in exotic locales for sporting events.

UGround Hollywood, CA 1999 – 2000
Assistant/Producer/Technologist for leading Music Video and Commercial Production Company.

  • Worked with directors and producers for cutting edge music videos and commercials with A list talent.
  • Lead the company toward a digital strategy in their online presence.
  • Distributed the first digital feature films on the internet in 1999.
